Painting has been a part of Debra’s life since the age of four when, her mother set her up with an easel, canvas, palette knife and some paints.
Now, she devotes painting to the representation of the colour, natural beauty and innate creativity in the world. There's always been a childlike wonderment yet, seeing clear parallels to the cycle of nature and our own cycle of life.
And having always painted as a hobby, while pursuing other careers focusing on coaching and training, it was when she moved to Singapore with her husband and children that she made the commitment, to study fine art and become a fulltime artist.
Her work is displayed in private collections in Singapore, Australia, USA, New Zealand and Canada, with ongoing commissions by request.
‘Painting for me is a about flow and layers: a continual exploration of what connects us to creation and the circle of life. It wasn’t just about the painting, it was a as much about getting lost in the exquisiteness of the creating.’
Whilst Debra continues to paint full time, her vision was to marry her professional experience in coaching and training with her passion for art and it’s ability to feed the soul.
The world search began for examples of artists who shared their gift of creativity with others. An Australian artist, Jacqueline Coates, who focuses on teaching people with no painting experience, caught her attention.
In 2014, Debra was honoured when she was asked to teach and represent the Jacqueline Coates Blooms Painting Method™.
Debra will be teaching the Blooms Painting Method in Singapore, Brisbane, Australia and Canada.
